We are excited to tell you that we’re taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge again this year with our Health to the Ocean Campaign!

The campaign is open from 12:00 PM, 30 November 2021 to 12:00 PM, 7 December 2021, and amazingly as part of the online campaign all donations we receive will be doubled during the week!

Our charity consists of volunteer scuba divers, with extensive training in advanced diving practices specifically in relation to helping the marine environment by removing harmful lost fishing gear called ‘Ghost Gear.

Each year it is estimated that 640,000 tonnes of lost fishing gear makes its way into our oceans and continues fishing indiscriminately and indefinitely.

It can cost £1000 to locate, recover and recycle just one diving day’s haul of ghost gear, which is normally in the region of 100-200kg per day.

How does the Christmas Challenge Work?

The Christmas Challenge is a match funding campaign where donations to participating charities are doubled. The match funds come from two sources – charities secure some of these (Pledges) over the summer. These funds are then boosted by funds from a Big Give Champion who contributes to the match fund. This collective pot is used to double donations from online supporters when the campaign is live. Watch our video that explains how the campaign works:
